Ownership
Questions to settle before living with an LED desk lamp
Ownership questions often sit outside a headline brightness claim. The exact package, control behavior, power adapter and light-source construction can matter more than a small difference in a feature count. Check these questions against the exact model and manual before you decide.
What happens if the light source fails?
Determine whether the lamp uses a replaceable bulb or an integrated LED module, then look for a manufacturer service route. BenQ's US lighting information says its LED source is not user-replaceable. That statement does not describe the cost or timing of service for a particular fault. A rated lifespan is also not an individual warranty: compare any formal warranty terms and support instructions for the exact model.
What is included, and what is optional?
List the parts that make the desired setup function: lamp head, support, base, adapter, clamp, screws and controls. A product can support an accessory arrangement without including the accessory in the lamp box. BenQ's e-Reading page lists the chassis and adapter in the lamp package; its Desk Clamp has a separate compatibility page. The Genie review documents that the clamp does not fit that model. Check the contents on the actual offer, especially when a seller uses a broad series name.
Will the power and physical setup work?
Match the source-listed voltage range and adapter to the outlet you intend to use; do not assume that every market edition has the same cord or plug. Check the lamp's listed maximum size against shelf height and desk space, but remember that a maximum envelope is not an assembly drawing. Ask for the current instructions if the mount or a narrow clearance is central to your decision.
Keep promises and unknowns separate
Manufacturer descriptions of quality, comfort, lifespan or energy savings are source claims, not observations from this site. We do not turn a rated service life into a guarantee or a statement about a particular household. Likewise, price, availability, seller, return terms and package contents can vary; inspect the offer rather than relying on a saved review. If a source does not identify a needed feature or limit, treat it as unknown until primary evidence answers it.
When you want current-reference models only
Decision: Choosing no keeps earlier or discontinued models out of this reviewed comparison, but does not promise that any remaining model is currently stocked. All 80 current-reference models remain eligible.
The excluded example is the BenQ MindDuo 2: its exact U.S. buy page identifies SKU MindDuo2-001 and marks that commerce item discontinued. The current-reference ScreenBar Max, by contrast, remains in the current comparison as a complete desk-supported lamp; that is a lifecycle distinction, not a ranking or stock check. The current-only option reflects the facts library's lifecycle labels, not proof of seller inventory, offer condition, or future availability.
The current-reference Solarcycle CD05 and Solarcycle Morph CD06 also remain eligible; CD05 and Morph are separate current-reference model records, not inventory claims. The Nova, Horizon 2.0, Infinity, Element Disc, Element Vision and Element 790 assessments remain eligible when earlier models are excluded; their mount variants do not change the lifecycle label.

When you want earlier models included
Decision: Choosing yes includes all 80 current-reference models plus the discontinued BenQ MindDuo 2 and the Restore CS01RB9-SHPR, which this library classifies as earlier because its exact OttLite product page now returns 404 and the model is absent from the enumerated current 81-item collection. This lifecycle classification does not say whether any seller has stock. The reviewed set contains 82 models.
This choice is useful when comparing documented history, controls, mounts and published figures against current-reference products. MindDuo 2's exact U.S. page marks SKU MindDuo2-001 discontinued; its review retains the non-interchangeable round- and square-shaft bases, optional clamp and sourced light claims. Restore's exact manual covers CS01RB9-SHPR and its tabletop base, while a dated maker-page index says CRI 95 and 9–22-inch height; the maker product URL itself now returns 404. Its exact-SKU retailer listing gives CRI 97, so the assessment uses the maker's 95 conservatively and surfaces the conflict rather than claim a measurement. Read the MindDuo 2 and Restore reviews. The current desk-supported ScreenBar Max provides a current-reference comparison; its clamp is included in the package but its separate base is optional.
The current-reference Solarcycle CD05 and Solarcycle Morph CD06 also remain in this 82-model comparison. The six Humanscale reviews named above are current-reference models and therefore also appear when earlier models are included. The Element trio's exact base and clamp configurations differ from one another in published light figures and controls; compare each review with earlier MindDuo 2. Inclusion does not establish seller stock.
Decision: When earlier models are included with published Ra 95 or higher selected, the matcher returns 46 reviews, including MindDuo 2 and Restore. Restore qualifies at the indexed OttLite value of 95, but the exact-SKU retailer reports 97; neither claim is an independent measurement, and this choice does not establish 90 cm at 500 lux or automatic paper/screen response.
Compare the MindDuo 2 and Restore evidence, then open the finder with earlier-model inclusion and the published Ra 95 threshold retained.
