Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the colorful Mood base mean the task light has selectable Kelvin modes?
No. Its manual describes a separate base-color effect and three brightness levels, but does not list Kelvin settings for the task-light head.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the Mood base a battery lamp or clamp mount?
No. The exact manual specifies a supplied AC adapter and a tabletop base; no battery-powered lighting plan or clamp arrangement is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Does ClearSun wording establish published Ra 95?
No numeric Ra/CRI value appears in the reviewed Mood page or model instructions, so its Ra threshold remains unknown rather than a match.
Explore this need in the finder →The white OttLite Mood LED Desk Lamp with Color Changing Base (CSB3000W) separates its main task light from its decorative base lighting. The product page describes a ClearSun LED head, a rubberized flexible neck, three brightness levels and a USB port, while the manual confirms the model code and corded setup. The lower portion of the base can glow in a selected color or cycle through the spectrum. This source-based assessment distinguishes those functions rather than treating the colorful base as a color-temperature control or a second light head.
Two kinds of light, two different controls
The lamp’s task-light control is a touch switch with three brightness settings. The manual gives a sequence of one, two or three touches for low, medium and high, and a fourth touch to turn the light off. A separate base switch controls the color-changing illumination: a touch starts the color change, holding can select a color, and a longer hold switches the effect off. The current product page describes the base cycling through a 256-color spectrum. Those color choices belong to the decorative base; the product sources do not list selectable Kelvin values for the white task-light beam.
OttLite’s page identifies ClearSun technology and carries the company’s eyestrain-reduction language, but it provides no numeric CRI/Ra figure, lumen maximum or 500-lux coverage width for this exact SKU. The page’s general ClearSun claims should not be converted into a measured color-rendering score or a particular desk-lighting result. The lamp does not meet a documentary Ra 95 filter from the reviewed sources, and an unknown figure is not evidence that its real-world color rendering is poor. It simply remains unverified against that hard threshold.
Flexible neck and small circular base
The manufacturer lists an 11.75-inch neck and a three-inch shade, with a 3.94-inch-diameter base. The neck is described as flexible and rubberized; the instructions say to hold the base while bending it to aim the shade and caution against overextending the lamp. This is a continuous flexible neck, not two linked supporting arms. It may be useful where a compact round footprint is attractive, but those listed dimensions do not supply a measured reach envelope or prove that the head clears a monitor or shelf.
The desk-fit question is therefore more specific than whether the lamp is “small.” The base may occupy little circular area, yet the flexible neck and shade still need room to bend, and the cord needs an outlet route. Compare the height and reach you actually need with the adjustment diagram before choosing; the product page does not give a total lamp-height range or a full movement map. The official White image shows the flexible arch and colored base, but the picture is not a placement test.
USB does not make it portable
Mood uses a supplied 12 V DC, 1.5 A adapter, with 100–240 V AC input, and remains a mains-powered lamp. Its USB output is rated 5 V and 2.1 A for compatible devices. That output is separate from the adapter input: it can charge a device when power is connected, but it is neither battery power for the LED nor wireless charging. The manual says to use the supplied adapter, keep the lamp indoors and let the head cool before handling. It also says the LED light source cannot be replaced by the consumer.
The maker lists USB device support but does not establish charging performance for a particular phone or tablet. Check the connector, cable path and outlet location for your setup instead of assuming the port replaces a dedicated charging supply. The task light, base-color effect and USB port are three distinct functions, and each may compete for space around the 3.94-inch base.
Who should compare it
Mood is most distinct for someone who wants a flexible-neck base lamp with simple manual brightness control and a decorative color-changing base. It is not a substitute for a lamp with numeric Ra documentation, quantified wide-area coverage, two linked arms, or automatic paper-and-screen sensing. A similar naming phrase appears on other OttLite products, but the separate Mood and MCC00Z pages have different task-light controls and exact model codes; the RGB base feature alone is not enough to merge their identities.
Check the White CSB3000W code, 3.94-inch base, 11.75-inch neck, included 12 V adapter and the separate USB output when comparing an offer. The exact page does not state color temperature, total lumens, base area in a room, noise, flicker or an independently measured comfort result. The photo confirms appearance only. This is a corded complete lamp for a tabletop base arrangement, not a clip-on fixture and not a battery lamp.
