A useful fit for

A compact tabletop comparison for someone who wants a flexible neck, four touch brightness levels and a published CRI 95 value in a Black single-variant configuration.

The main tradeoff

The exact sources do not publish a 90 cm width at 500 lux, lumen output, color-temperature range, USB output or linked-arm count; the integrated light source and lamp head are not user-replaceable.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Is the Black Curve the same lamp as Black Creative Curves?

No. The Curve is exact SKU CSA30G59. The separately listed Black Creative Curves model is A30G59-FFP, and the USB-equipped Creative Curves variants use CSA30WGC-SHPR or CSA30WTC-SHPR. Their shared family words do not make the product records or packages interchangeable.

Does Curve's published Ra value prove that it covers a broad desk?

OttLite publishes CRI 95 for the Curve, but the product page and CSA30G59 instructions give no 90 cm width at 500 lux, center illuminance or lumen figure. Ra describes a separate specification, not the area lit at a stated threshold.

Does the flexible neck meet a two-linked-section arm requirement?

The exact instructions describe bending one continuous flexible neck while holding the base. They do not identify two linked supporting-arm sections, so flexible positioning is not enough to satisfy the two-section question.

A separate Curve model, not the similarly named Creative Curves

The current OttLite U.S. listing identifies a Black Curve LED Desk Lamp, SKU CSA30G59. That identity matters because OttLite also sells models named Creative Curves, including a USB-equipped version; their similar names are not evidence that the products share parts or features. The Curve's own product record and instructions name CSA30G59, and the listed model is a complete desk lamp with its own base, flexible neck, integrated light and supplied power adapter. This review is an assessment of manufacturer documents and imagery, not a hands-on or photometric test.

Flexible positioning on a small base

OttLite lists the lamp at 11.25 to 23.75 inches high, with a 5.25-inch-diameter base. Its rubberized neck is described as flexible, and the instructions say to bend it while holding the base. That arrangement offers a different sort of adjustment from a lamp with separately linked arm sections: the source set does not count the Curve's neck as a two-section support arm, and it provides no horizontal reach diagram. Before placing it beside a monitor or on a crowded desk, consider both the footprint and how the curved neck will occupy the space above the surface. The manual warns not to overextend the lamp, since it can become unbalanced or be damaged.

The tabletop base is the documented support arrangement. Neither its product page nor its instructions establish a desk clamp, edge clip, or included attachment for another support. If the usable tabletop is especially narrow, the listed base diameter is more useful than the curved silhouette in the marketing photograph; it does not by itself prove stability on every surface.

Four touch settings and a published Ra value

The lamp has four touch-selected brightness settings on the base. Its product page lists a manufacturer-published CRI of 95, which meets the site's narrow Ra 95-or-higher documentary filter. OttLite also promotes ClearSun LEDs and says they reduce eyestrain by 51%; those are manufacturer claims rather than findings measured by this site. The page calls the illumination smooth and uniform, but supplies no maximum lumen figure, center illuminance, color-temperature range, or width at a named lux level. In particular, neither the flexible neck nor the CRI value establishes the separate 90-centimeter width at 500 lux used in the finder.

That distinction is useful when comparing the Curve with other desk lamps. A color-rendering specification answers a different question from how broadly a lamp lights a work surface. If the desk must receive a stated width at a stated light level, require that exact measurement in the product documentation instead of inferring it from brightness settings, a low-glare description, or the shape of a shade.

Corded power and a replace-at-end light source

The included AC/DC adapter is specified for 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz input and 12 V DC at 0.42 A output; the instructions tell the owner to use the supplied adapter. This is a corded tabletop lamp, not a rechargeable model. The product details and exact instructions do not list a USB charging output or wireless charging pad, so a buyer who wants a device-charging base should compare a different exact model rather than assuming one from the brand's other lamps.

The instructions also say that the LED source is not replaceable and that the complete luminaire must be replaced when it reaches end of life. The page gives a maximum LED rating of 40,000 hours; that is a manufacturer rating, not a measured life estimate for a particular household. The lamp head is likewise not consumer-replaceable. These limits belong in a long-term ownership decision alongside the compact base and flexible positioning.

Where the Curve fits among other OttLite choices

The Curve is a straightforward comparison for someone who wants a compact tabletop lamp, a flexible neck and four touch levels, with an exact published Ra 95 claim. It is not the same configuration as non-USB Creative Curves, whose current White and Black variants use different retail codes and have a different listed maximum output; it is also not the USB-equipped Creative Curves family. The Curve's own model code, page and manual should therefore remain attached to this assessment.

Compared with the Turquoise Revive lamp, the Curve has a continuous flexible neck and four brightness steps, while Revive uses a visibly jointed two-section arm, three settings and an integrated USB output. Compared with the Gray Good Housekeeping Modern lamp, Curve lacks the latter's documented wireless charging pad and rear USB port. Those are package differences, not a declaration that one model lights a desk better. Check the Black CSA30G59 code, the supplied 12 V adapter, the 5.25-inch base clearance and the product's integrated-light service limit before selecting it. No ownership, testing, measured illumination, color assessment, or customer experience is claimed.
