Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can it clear the desktop with a clamp?
BenQ lists its Desk Clamp as compatible with the e-Reading Desk Lamp. The clamp is an optional accessory, not part of the lamp's listed box contents, so confirm that the offer includes the exact clamp if you need the clamp arrangement.

BenQ specifies a 90 cm (35.4 in) lighting width at 500 lux. Treat that as the manufacturer's stated threshold and condition, not a promise that every point on your actual desk will measure identically.
Explore this need in the finder →Can I reposition the head for more than one desk task?
The product page describes a patented head ball joint and a multi-section swing arm. Its geometry supports more repositioning than the single-section Genie arm, but the pages do not give a measured reach envelope for your desk.
Explore this need in the finder →The BenQ e-Reading Desk Lamp (US model identifier EreadingDesk-001, also presented as E-Reading Intelligent) is a mains-powered, integrated-LED task lamp built around a curved head and a two-section swing arm. It is the more adjustable of the two BenQ desk lamps assessed here. The manufacturer also lists an optional compatible desk clamp, so this model has a space-saving arrangement that the smaller Genie does not. This is a source-based assessment of manufacturer material, not a hands-on test; the figures below are manufacturer specifications, not measurements made for this review.
A wide-lighting claim with useful conditions
BenQ specifies a lighting width of 90 cm (35.4 in) at 500 lux and a center illuminance of 1,600 lux at a 45 cm height. The first number is more useful than an unqualified “wide coverage” claim because it names a threshold; the second also states a distance. Neither tells you the exact light level over your particular desk, how the beam interacts with your monitor, or whether the lamp can be positioned to avoid a reflection from your screen. Treat them as a starting point for comparison, then check placement in your own room.
The lamp has a stated Ra 95 color-rendering index, 13 color-temperature levels from 2,700 K to 5,700 K, and 23 brightness levels. A knob handles dimming and, with a press-and-turn action, color temperature. The product page describes paper and screen modes that use an ambient-light sensor. Those are useful control choices for someone switching between a notebook and a monitor, but an automatic mode is not a substitute for placing the head so the page is clear and the screen is not washed out. BenQ’s stated color and illumination figures describe the lamp; they do not establish a health outcome or guarantee that every task will look right to every user.
Choose it for reach, not just its curved head
The product’s two linked arm sections and head ball joint give it several points of adjustment. That is the practical distinction from a short, fixed desk light: the head can be moved over a broader work area without treating the whole lamp as a one-position object. BenQ lists maximum dimensions of 59 × 22 × 62.5 cm and a net weight of 4.8 kg. Those listed dimensions are not a diagram of the base footprint or a measured reach envelope. If your desk is shallow, low, or crowded by shelves, check the exact setup dimensions and desired head position before committing; the product pages do not supply a numeric range for every joint.
The supplied chassis/base is the straightforward setup. For a smaller clear desktop, BenQ separately offers a Desk Clamp and explicitly lists it as compatible with this lamp. The clamp is not shown among the lamp’s box contents. BenQ says it is not compatible with the Genie model, which makes the accessory a real model-family distinction rather than a generic fit assumption. Before buying a clamp package, confirm the lamp identifier, that the exact clamp is included, and that your desk edge and under-desk clearance suit the current clamp instructions.
What to verify before you choose it
This is an integrated-LED fixture rather than a socket lamp into which you can swap an ordinary bulb. BenQ’s US lighting information says its LED source is not user-replaceable. That may be acceptable if you value the broad, adjustable light and expect to rely on the maker’s service process; it is less appealing if a standard replaceable bulb is a priority. The stated maximum draw is 18 W, power input is 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz, and listed materials include aluminum alloy, engineering resin, and zinc alloy. The package page lists the lamp, chassis, adapter, instructions, warranty, and wrenches; confirm the contents of the exact offer because the optional clamp is separate.
The e-Reading Desk Lamp makes the most sense on a desk where the light head needs to move across a broad work zone, where screen and paper tasks alternate, or where a compatible clamp could reclaim surface area. Its tradeoffs are size, weight, an integrated light source, and the extra cost and fit-check involved in a clamp setup. If you want the shorter one-section arm and the smaller listed envelope instead, compare the BenQ Genie review: the headline illumination specifications are similar, but its mount options are not. Neither review can establish current stock, seller terms, or a lamp’s behavior in your room. Check the exact US SKU, package, and instructions before treating any configuration as a fit.
